Egg farmers in Canada have always made their top priority the care and well-being of their hens. They follow important protocols related to the care, diet and environment to keep hens healthy and ensure Canadian eggs are produced according to some of the highest quality standards in the world. 

Egg farmers nationwide have implemented a comprehensive on-farm food safety program called Start Clean-Stay Clean™. The program includes monitoring, through on-farm inspections, to ensure mandated standards for storage, cleanliness, air quality, feed and record keeping are being met.

Canadian egg farmers are also required to follow feed regulations set by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, part of which mandates that steroids and hormones cannot be used in Canada.
