Celebrate Halloween with these 5 Fun Activities!
Are you planning a Halloween celebration and in search of fun activities that go beyond trick-or-treating? These recipes and crafts are the perfect activities for Halloween day or the weekend before.
Monster Cookies
Use our yummy Snickerdoodle recipe for the cookie sandwich and fill it with Cream Cheese Icing. The best part about these cookies is that you can let your imagination run wild! Candy isn’t hard to find this time of year – get creative with all the goodies available! You can use white chocolate chips for teeth, googly eyes, and even marshmallows for horns and ears. Separate your frosting into different batches and add food colouring for a vibrant army of monsters.
Halloween Devilled Eggs
Make your devilled eggs even more devilish! To make these, we followed our favourite Classic Devilled Eggs recipe and then added some spine-chilling toppers.
To make the spiders: Use black olives. To save time, use canned, sliced olives. All you’ll have to do is cut the slices in half and place them around the edges of the egg as “legs”. For the body of the spider, pick out the end pieces of the olives and place them in the centre of the yolk.
To make the pumpkins: Cover the yolk mixture in paprika. You can spread it with your finger or a spoon. Once you have full coverage, use a knife to slice in lines that mimic the lines of a pumpkin. Reshape the pumpkin with a knife or spoon to make it nice and round. Scrape up any paprika that fell onto the egg whites with a clean knife. Add a chive slice as a stem and voila!
Witch's Brew Brownies
You’ll be cackling as you bake these Witch’s Brew Brownies! The best part about this scary treat is that you can throw in any candy you want! Do you have some extra smarties on hand? Throw them in. Candy corn? That works too. To make your brownies even creepier, add googly eyes.
Pumpkin Egg Cartons
Let’s face it – you might have already indulged in quite a bit of candy at this point. If you’re looking for an arts and crafts activity, then you’ll have a blast making these Pumpkin Egg Cartons! That’s not to say that you can’t stuff them with candy – the choice is yours! The spooky surprise that you stuff in these egg cartons is up to you.
Spooky Meringue Ghosts
What’s light, fluffy and deliciously spine-chilling? Spooky Meringue Ghosts, of course! Trace a ghost stencil on the parchment paper and then flip it over on the baking sheet, so there is a guide when piping, but the ink doesn’t come in contact with the egg whites. If you want to create other spooky shapes – trace those beforehand too! Get as imaginative as you like.
