Springtime Egg Carton Flowers
Spring is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a burst of color? This fun and creative craft activity is perfect for the whole family to enjoy, no matter their age. Follow our step-by-step guide to make beautiful egg carton flowers that will brighten up any room!
What You’ll Need:
- 12” x 16” canvas
- Egg carton
- Scissors
- Paint (we used pink and yellow for the flowers and turquoise for the backdrop, but feel free to choose your favorite colors!)
- Paintbrush
- Buttons (white is classic, but colorful buttons add a fun touch)
- Green pipe cleaners
- Glue (hot glue works best, but craft glue will also do the job)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Canvas: Start by painting your canvas with turquoise paint. For added dimension, while the paint is still wet, drag streaks of a different color through it. White can create a cloud-like effect, while purple might hint at a sunset.
2. Create the Flowers: While your canvas dries, cut the cups from the egg carton. These will become your flowers. Trim the edges of each cup to create petals. Bend the petals outward and round off the edges for a more natural look. Paint the cups with your chosen colors—pink and yellow create a cheerful effect. For extra flair, add streaks of white or orange to the petals.
3. Arrange the Flowers: Once the paint on the cups is dry, arrange your flowers on the canvas. Play with different placements until you find a bouquet you love. Glue the flowers in place to secure them.
4. Add the Stems: Attach green pipe cleaners to each flower to create stems. If the pipe cleaners are too long, trim them and twist the shorter pieces into leaves. Glue the leaves along the stems and twist the pipe cleaners together at the bottom to form a bouquet.
5. Finish with Buttons: Add a button to the center of each flower for a final touch. Your egg carton bouquet is now ready to hang or gift to someone special!
Additional Tips:
- Mix and Match: Create a bouquet for each room in your house using different color schemes.
- Personalize: Use extra egg carton cups as paint holders or add other embellishments like glitter for a unique touch.
With this simple and creative craft, you’ll have a colorful bouquet that lasts forever and brings a touch of spring into your home. Enjoy your crafting!
